We are currently seeking a Business Development Manager (Bus Dev Manager) to support our Education Business

The Education Business Development Manager is responsible for ensuring that relevant customers, partners, and influencers (end-users, channel partners, resellers, and consultants) choose Planar for their specialty display needs. The Business Dev Manager role requires an ability to sell directly, manage channel partners, and influence industry thought-leaders. The Business Dev Manager will think and act strategically and tactically in achieving business results for this market vertical, under the direction of the VP, Sales. The Business Dev Manager will contribute to the market strategy, implement that strategy by developing appropriate sales influencers and partners, and then manage those partners to achieve aggressive sales goals. The successful candidate must work well with internal colleagues in Sales, Marketing, Research & Development, Technical Support, Sales Operations and other functions, in support of a collaborative, customer-focused organization.

What you’ll Do:
The Regional Education Account Manager will specialize in selling display solutions and building Planar brand awareness within the Higher Education and K – 12 market

  • This person will create and implement an education market sales strategy for Planar to implement. You will collaborate internally with Planar’ s Marketing and Product Development Team on products and solutions applicable to the Education marketplace with the goal to dramatically increase Planar’ s brand awareness in the Education marketplace.
  • You will work alongside Planar Regional Sales Managers, Integrators, and Consultants to create opportunities in the education vertical. You will monitor and report on relevant information from the field as it pertains to Education market trends, competitive landscape, sales opportunities and channel activities.
  • You will be responsible for driving revenue and building relationships with new & existing Education accounts. Your goal would be to create, nurture and develop relationships with the Audio-video teams, decision-makers, and influencers at universities and school districts and drive business toward the Planar sales teams. You will help develop and execute strategic account plans with the Planar Sales Territory Teams to assist meeting Planar annual revenue goals and objectives
  • Visit potential customers, make presentations, and identify key decisions makers within the Education vertical
  • Participate in Education trade shows and education networking events to help build Planar’s database of Education clients focusing primarily on Higher Education down to K-12.
  • Be able to travel 50-75% of the time.

Qualifications needed:

  • Bachelor’s degree or related field/equivalent experience preferred
  • At least 5 yrs experience in selling into higher education and k-12 market
  • Broad overall knowledge of AV technology is needed. Prior sales experience with LED displays is preferred.
  • Keen understanding of the Education Marketplace and knowledge of procurement policies within the Education Market
  • Proven track record of exceeding sales objectives and yearly sales revenue goals
  • Customer Service and Support oriented disposition. Must be able to work closely with internal resources such as marketing, product development, technical staff, regional account managers and inside sales.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required. Preference for experience with contemporary productivity and communication tools ( Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Social Media, etc)
  • Must possess excellent written, verbal & presentation skills
  • Must have a valid driver’s license

Other Requirements:

Requires ability to lift/move/set-up products weighing up to 40 pounds.
